Work Placements
Congratulations to the following students who started their work placement year in July: Yoo Jin Kim and Kwang Lim Ko from Korea who both started in Reception in the Thistle Hotel Euston, Lu Chao from China who started in Food & Beverage in the Royal Garden Hotel, Jung Eui Kim from Korea who started in Room Service in Claridges Hotel and Thushara Ariywansha from Sri Lanka who started in Reservations in the London Ritz
Hotel Visit
A group of students visited the five star deluxe Berkley Hotel where there are several fellow students on work placment. We were shown around several of the suites and all of the public outlets as well as back of house by Kirsty Low the Training Manager there. We had an excellent tour and the picture is of some of the students in the famous Blue Bar
Guest Lecturer
Mr. Luc Delafosse (ex General Manager Burj al Arab) has returned to the UK to set up a new hotel in London in 2010. He came to LHS to give an inspiring lecture on how to be a success in the hotel business. The students were very impressed with how he had managed his career to become one of the top General Managers in the world
Visitor from Korea
Professor Jeon Head of Hospitality studies from our partner in Korea Woosong University came to LHS to visit exchange students from Woosong and check on their progress. The students had lots of good things to tell him.
Laptop Bank
From September LHS will have a bank of laptop computers for loan to students at the college. Please be aware there are issuing times when you can borrow a laptop if you need it: Mornings they can be borrowed 8.45-9.00AM and 10.30-10.45AM and Afternoons at 12.45-1pm
Marketing assignment
In July the HND students had to complete a poster based assignment detailing the marketing process.The first floor of the school was covered in displays created by the students ad it was a valuable and fun learning experience for all.

Several students completed their HND course in July and pictured are Jessica Guan from China, So Yong Ban from Korea and Reza Mahidur from Iran
Barbecue and Treasure Hunt
On the 31st July LHS student association organised a treasure hunt and barbecue. The students had to travel all over the city collecting clues and photographs. The team from the American Hotel and Lodging Association class won first prize (see them above) and between them they have 4 overnight stays in London Hotels and Tea for two at the Ritz as their prize. At the end of the competition the students were joined by many others at the school for a barbecue party. Great fun was had by all!
Start Dates of Next course
The next courses begin on TUESDAY 26th August with International Hotel Management in the morning for the HND students and afternoon for the AHLA students and Quality Management in the afternoon for the HND students.
